Portskewett pupils’ polytunnel will help garden bloom
9:10am Sunday 5th February 2012

THESE Monmouthshire school children are discovering how to grow their own fruit and veg in their brand new polytunnel.
Archbishop Rowan Williams School built the structure at the school after children at the Portskewett school asked for it, according to headteacher Graham Murphy.
"They've requested it for a long time because they take part so much in growing competitions. They wanted to have a place where they could work," he said.
The polytunnel is a structure made of polyethylene designed to protect a garden or a row of plants, similar in principle to a greenhouse.
Mr Murphy said the tunnel, which cost £2,000, is 25 feet long and 14 feet wide with children working with hand tools on tables within it.
The school's growing club boasts 80 members.
