Chepstow rugby coach looking for a good start to the season
10:01am Thursday 2nd September 2010
Chepstow RFC will be looking for another strong mid-table finish when they kick off their Division Four East campaign, this Saturday, with a home fixture against Abercarn RFC.
Richard Goodey, the Chepstow head coach, will certainly be looking for his side to get off to a better start than they did last year, when it took them until October to record their first victory.
However after such a poor start the club rebounded wonderfully to finish fifth in the table, a position that Goodey will be hoping the team can maintain, if not improve on, this year.
Much like last season Chepstow will look to use a mixture of youth and experience this season to bring them success.
What will undoubtedly disappoint head coach Goodey, though, is the fact the club will once again have travel further than most clubs throughout the season. With Monmouth RFC being relegated at the end of the season, Chepstow's closest away fixture is now Cwmbran RFC, which will be a 40 mile round trip for the side.
As a result, expect to Chepstow to rely heavily on some strong performances at the Upper Memorial Ground if they are to achieve a top half finish.
